CYCLE DE CONFERENCES « SMART & RESILIENT CITIES »
Talk series No. 1 : « TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE CITIES » par Dominique Gauzin-Müller
Dominique Gauzin-Müller will be sharing with us her ideas on several new neighborhoods in different contexts; eco-neighborhoods in Freiburg and Tübingen in Germany, Beauséjour in Reunion Island and the smart city of Songdo in South Korea.
An holistic approach is the essential basis of sustainable urban planning. Ideas such as frugal architecture and new housing models are the key to urban development in the future. All which contribute to the identity and the charm of a city, or a district, for instance: urban structure, urban fabric, building materials, the presence of green spaces and vegetation. Those small elements, which make public spaces more familiar, as well as "accidents" which enrich the primary urban structure.
In short, diversity in unity, and above all... life, people!
